Grant Funding Guidelines
D.E.F. Core Grants Programs
Under our flagship "Core Grants" program, the Durango Education Foundation awards funding to teachers, administrators, and staff for programs, materials and technology that cultivate life-changing learning opportunities for students of Durango School District 9-R. We enthusiastically encourage fresh ideas and serious efforts to promote achievement and excellence in the classrooms of our district.
Every school, every teacher and every department throughout the district is welcome to apply for a D.E.F. grant. Grants are awarded on their merits; however, D.E.F. does try to balance funding somewhat between the schools. Local non-profit community organizations offering programs that serve 9-R students may also apply. The main portion of our funding goes directly to District 9-R needs, but we encourage community collaboration.
D.E.F. will be accepting grant applications during the first quarter of 2014 for use July 1, 2014 - May 31, 2015. Criteria and application instructions will be posted here by December 31, 2013. The grants committee considers all Core Grant applications at the same time, following the close of the application period; notification follows ratification by the full D.E.F. Board of Trustees, usually within 60 days of the close of applications.
