What this fund supports: Established to honor lifelong educator Gretchen Wilson, this fund offers modest grants to teachers to help defray the costs of classroom projects not otherwise covered by the school budget. Applications are taken throughout the academic year and are awarded depending on the availability of funds.
Deadlines: Classroom Projects Grants are considered every month during the school year, depending on funding being available. Submit by the 1st of the month to be considered that month. Notification is usually within 3 weeks of application.
Step 1: Inquiry
Every D.E.F. grant begins with an inquiry to D.E.F. to discuss whether your idea/program is a fit with D.E.F. priorities. Call 970-385-1491 or email 9RFoundation@gmail.com. D.E.F. will not consider a grant request without a preliminary inquiry.
Step 2: Documents include:
A. D.E.F. application cover sheet.
Fillable PDF (REMEMBER: Download and save with a new name to preserve data you have entered.)
NOTE: Help us identify your grant by giving it a unique name that describes your project. Rather than a generic “DEF Grant,” please be specific. Examples: “Music and Math Fractions”; “Graphing Equations with String Art”; “Momentum with Paper Rockets.”
B. Narrative: Explain your project and need in 1 page maximum.
Include rationale, standards being addressed if applicable, number and grade level(s) of students served, desired/expected outcome, and any collaborative efforts.
C. Budget: Include all costs to complete the project.
Step 3: Submit your grant.
Submit directly to DEF either electronically or on paper.
Step 4: Confirm with us that you’ve sent it!
