About the Tournament

The Durango Education Foundation dedicates the annual golf tournament at Dalton Ranch Golf & Country Club to the memory of Tom Hartney for his many contributions to education.  Tom devoted many years of his life as an active member of the community.  Tom served on the 9-R School District School Board, and was a DEF Board of Trustee. 

Proceeds from the tournament support DEF’s mission to develop resources outside the capacity of the regular Durango School District 9-R budget.  DEF Grants bring innovative technology, materials and programs that enhance the educational experience in 9-R Classrooms.

We thank the many donors and participants who contributed, and continue to contribute, to the success of the event. The Tom Hartney Memorial Golf Tournament is our biggest fundraiser of the year. Be a part of the DEF family and help us support education!

Team registration includes:
– Shotgun start at 9AM; Check in begins at 8AM
– Registration for 4 players
– Welcome Bags at check-in for each player
– 2 Carts

– Opportunity to win multiple Hole Contest Prizes

Team Captains will be contacted by email 2 weeks prior to the tournament with tournament rules, contest holes, and assigned tee time.

  • Check-in outside only at the Bag Drop Off area
  • Cart guidelines and restrictions as outlined below

  • Scorecards should be submitted to the Golf Pro Shop at completion of play
  • Assistant Pro, Pete Wolke, will review rules & restrictions with each team at Hole #1

    Cart Guidelines and Restrictions:
  • 2 golf carts available for each team
  • Single riders in carts, unless members are of the same household
  • Players of different households may ride together IF they are both wearing masks and taking all precautions
  • Teams are encouraged to follow rider guidelines by rotating walking and riding.
  • All 4 bags can be placed on carts; Remote control golf bag caddies are welcome.
