Beginning in 2025, the Durango Education Foundation dedicated its highly successful annual golf tournament at Dalton Ranch Golf Club to honor Pat Murphy, a founding member of our organization and a longtime, loyal supporter of Durango public schools.  Pat has devoted many years of his life to his family; his career as a successful business man and co-owner of Morehart Murphy Regional Auto Center; his active service to the Durango community; and to serving on the Durango Education Foundation Board of Trustees for many years. 

Proceeds from the tournament support DEF’s mission to develop resources outside of the capacity of the regular Durango School District budget.  DEF grants fund innovative technology, programming, curriculum, student competitive travel, and materials that enhance the educational experience in Durango School District Classrooms. The 2025  tournament brought over $54,000 in critical support to Durango School District public schools during a time when they need it the most.

We thank the many donors and participants who contributed, and continue to contribute, to the success of the event. The Pat Murphy Golf for Education Tournament is our biggest fundraiser of the year. Join our family of educational champions and help us support education!
