SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS

Awarded by the Moniker Foundation


Award Amount: $1,000 renewable to the student’s choice of school, inclusive of a Trade School/Vocational School, 4-year Bachelor programs, and 2-year Associate programs

Selection: Recipients will be selected by the Moniker and TRIO selections committee.


ELIGIBILITY AND REQUIREMENTS

  • DEADLINE: February 20, 2026

  • Applicants must be TRIO Talent Search participants from Cortez, Mancos, Durango, Ignacio, or Pagosa Springs

  • All scholarship recipients must attend college for the entire 2026-2027 year, beginning in fall of 2026

  • All scholarship recipients must apply for TRIO at the collegiate level (if offered at their institution of choice)

  • All scholarship recipients must fill out scholarship agreements, agreeing to any specific terms and expectations of the scholarship they are awarded

  • All scholarship recipients must write a thank you note to the donor or organization that sponsored the scholarship they were awarded

  • Successful scholarship applicants will be awarded a scholarship that best matches with their academic plans, personal background and school they are planning to attend

EVALUATION CRITERIA

  • Individual determination to succeed

  • Future goals and career path, and plans to achieve them

  • The activity or activities in which the student has been involved and a description of the student’s efforts in support of these activities

  2. Statement of Financial Need

    • Please share anything about your family financial situation and/or your financial situation that will help us understand your need for college scholarship assistance. (approximately 250 words)

  3. One Essay

    • Write about your future career plans and why that path interests you. You can discuss what steps you have taken toward that goal and how your life experiences have led you to that path. On the same note, convince us that you are determined to persevere in college until you graduate and that you need this scholarship to do so. (500-750 words)
