TYPES OF GRANTS

CORE ACADEMIC GRANT

Core Grants support programs, materials, and technology that cultivate life-changing learning opportunities for Durango School District 9-R students.  We encourage innovative ideas, pilot programs, and efforts to promote excellence in classrooms and programs that serve the 9-R students.  All grant applications that are tentatively approved must go through an internal 9-R department(s) review to ensure their compatibility with systems already in place.  Organizations outside of School District 9-R are eligible to apply for funding for programs and materials that benefit 9-R students.  Inquiries are welcome year-round.  Applicants must submit a Letter of Inquiry (LOI) prior to submitting an application.

CRANE MUSIC & FINE ARTS GRANT

This fund supports education in the visual and performing arts.  Applications are taken throughout the year and are awarded depending on the availability of funds.  Typically, this supports such elements as materials, supplies, visiting artists, and equipment.  Other items will be considered.  Organizations outside of School District 9-R are eligible to apply for funding for programs and materials that benefit 9-R students.  Applicants must submit a Letter of Inquiry (LOI) prior to submitting an application.

STUDENT COMPETITION & TRAVEL GRANT

This fund offers grants to help academic activity groups build their competition capacity and assist in the cost of academic team travel to regional, national and international competitions.  Applications are taken throughout the academic year and are awarded depending on the availability of funds.  We recommend applications be submitted as early as possible to avoid unforeseen delays.

GRETCHEN'S CLASSROOM GRANT

Established to honor lifelong educator, Gretchen Wilson,  This fund offers modest grants to teachers to help defray costs of classroom projects and materials not otherwise covered by the school budget.  Applications are taken throughout the academic year and are awarded depending on the availability of funds.

SUPPLIES FOR SUCCESS GRANT

In partnership with Dr. Kim Priebe, this grant was established to help students obtain supplies needed to be successful in their classroom when their families find themselves in extenuating circumstances.  This grant is meant to purchase supplies for individual students, based on the materials they need to participate and be successful in their classrooms.  9-R staff can apply for the grant on behalf of a student when they become aware that buying supplies or necessities can be difficult for their family. This grant can be applied for at any point throughout the year, with funding available within the week.  Funding priorities are based on identified needs.
